The Women's Handball Team of Ukraine is left without a head coach.

The Women's Handball Team of Ukraine has terminated its cooperation with the head coach of the team, Borys Chyzhov. This was announced on the website of the Handball Federation of Ukraine.
FHU President Andriy Melnyk reported that Chyzhov submitted his resignation due to unsatisfactory results in the recent matches, particularly at the Women's Euro 2024.
«The situation has developed in such a way that Borys Mykolayovych, the Honored Coach of Ukraine, has written a resignation letter. This issue will be considered at the meeting of the FHU board, where a decision will be made regarding his contract», - Melnyk's words are quoted by the FHU website.
According to Melnyk, the team is not showing the expected results and Chyzhov was unable to cope with the difficult moment of generational change and personnel losses.
«Unfortunately, the team is not showing the result we hoped for. Borys Mykolayovych took over the national team during a difficult moment of generational change, and the team was also weakened by a number of personnel losses, and nevertheless - a result is needed. The national team did not perform very well at the European Championship and did not show the kind of game we expected in the last control matches», - Melnyk said.
No information has been provided about the new head coach of the team at the FHU yet, as the acting coach will be determined at a gathering in Uzhhorod before the play-offs for the qualification for the World Championship 2025. However, Olha Perederiy, who worked in Chyzhov's staff, has declined this position.
During his second term at the head of the women's national team of Ukraine, Chyzhov managed 10 matches, winning only two and drawing once. For the first Time in 10 years, he led the team to the Women's Handball European Championship.
The national team of Ukraine will play in the play-off for the World Championship 2025 qualification against the Czech Republic. The first match will take place on April 10, and the second on April 13.
The World Championship will be held from November 27 to December 14 in Germany and the Netherlands.
This tournament may become the second in a row for Ukraine, after it earned the right to participate in 2023.
