Son-in-law married mother-in-law to go abroad.

A Ukrainian couple tried to leave the country pretending to be newlyweds. The 56-year-old woman and her 39-year-old partner claimed they were traveling to Germany for medical treatment. This was reported by the State Border Guard Service.
According to the report, the woman needed an escort due to her disability, so traveling without assistance would have been difficult.

Border guards quickly recognized the couple's true intentions. After an inspection, the woman confessed that the man was her son-in-law, not her husband. Information about the possible criminal offense was passed to the National Police for further investigation.
Earlier, the man had planned an escape abroad for six months but fell asleep on the way.
In recent days, three cases of sham marriages have been detected at the Polish border. In all cases, men tried to leave Ukraine under the guise of their wives' illnesses. This was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service.
It was previously reported that Ukrainian border guards stopped two residents of Vinnytsia region and one from Donetsk region 100 meters from the Hungarian border, after firing warning shots. The men tried to flee but stopped after the shots and complied with all border requirements.
