In the 'Tuzlivski Lymany' national park, ducklings of the Eurasian Teal - a protected species, were observed. These birds are under protection and listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. Seeing them is a rare luck as they skillfully hide.

This was reported by ecologist Ivan Rysev on his Facebook.

Eurasian ducklings in the national park

According to him, seven pairs of Eurasian Teals (lat. Anas strepera) were spotted on one of the lagoons, which have already hatched ducklings. These birds are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine and are rare for our fauna.

'Now there are 7 pairs with ducklings of this species. It's a very cautious bird, and taking a photo is not so easy. The mother duck quickly hid, and the little ones swiftly fled and hid in the reeds.' - wrote the ecologist.

What is known about the ducks

The Eurasian Teal is a waterfowl with unremarkable but noble coloring. Males have a gray body with a small pattern, a black rear, and a white patch on the wing visible in flight. Females resemble the common teal but are lighter with less pronounced patterns. Ducklings are fluffy, brown-yellow in color.

These ducks are extremely skittish. When danger appears, they quickly hide in the grass or reeds.

Birds that are protected and listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, Eurasian ducks have become the focus of attention for visitors to the 'Tuzlivski Lymany' national park. Ecologists noted that meeting these rare birds is quite difficult due to their cautiousness and ability to hide.
