A Unique Look at the Executed Renaissance: the Pre-Premiere Screening of ‘MUR. You [Romance] in Cinema’ Begins.

Ukraine is preparing for pre-premiere screenings of the musical 'MUR. You [Romance] in Cinema' in various cities across the country. From April 3 to April 11, the creative team of the film will visit nine cities. This information was reported by the film's information partner 'Lirum'.

The official premiere of the film will take place on April 10, with a grand premiere scheduled for April 8 in Kyiv.

The tour will take place in the following cities:

• April 4 - Dnipro, Multiplex in TЦR 'Dafi', 19:00
• April 4 - Lviv, 'Planet Kino' in TЦR 'Forum Lviv', 19:45 and 20:45

The musical 'MUR. You [Romance] in Cinema' transfers the theatrical performance to the big screen and reveals the lives of outstanding Ukrainian artists of the 1920s-30s who lived in the 'Slovo' house in Kharkiv. Among them are Pavlo Tychyna, Mykola Khvylovy, Les Kurbas, Ostap Vyshnia, Mykola Semenko and others.

The filmmakers emphasize that the musical's plot highlights important pages of history: the creation of the 'Slovo' house, repressions, the fate of artists, as well as stages in the life of Pavlo Tychyna. The film first embodies such themes as the betrayal of a poet, the involvement of Volodymyr Sosiura in the Third Assault, mass shootings of 'Slovo' residents and Khvylovy's suicide.

The pre-premiere tour will create a unique opportunity for the audience to communicate with the filmmakers, main actors and participants of the creative association MUR.

The film 'MUR. You [Romance] in Cinema' was shot in the summer of 2024 during special performances recorded on 12 cameras to maximize the atmosphere of the theatrical version. The use of film format added new visual elements, such as close-ups, angle changes, and accents on details.

The MUR team is working on popularizing the recording of theatrical performances, creating digital archives that preserve Ukraine's cultural heritage for future generations.

Let us remind you that the Culture Department of the Kyiv City State Administration reported on the implementation of the city target program 'Capital Culture: 2022-2024' based on the results of 2024.
