The season for gathering forest gifts in Ukraine has begun

According to ecologists from Lviv Polytechnic, the season for gathering forest gifts has started in Ukraine. To avoid legal issues, it is important to know where collecting is allowed.

According to the legislation, Ukrainians can collect mushrooms and berries for personal use, but there are restrictions regarding collection locations. Fines await those who engage in commercial harvesting without the necessary documents or violate rules in protected areas.

The rules for collection differ depending on the type of territory:

• In ordinary forest areas, collection of forest fruits is allowed without any restrictions for personal needs.
• In national parks, botanical gardens, and biosphere reserves, citizens can gather wild plants exclusively for themselves. Commercial activity is permitted with a forest ticket.
• Special regime protected areas are completely prohibited for any collection.

For violations of the rules for mushroom and berry collection in prohibited places or without permits, fines can range from 1700 to 5100 hryvnias. To avoid unpleasant situations, it is advisable to carefully monitor warning signs and fences in these areas.
