Switzerland Allocates Record Amount for Bomb Shelter Modernization.

Switzerland Allocates Funds for Shelter Modernization
The Swiss government has decided to allocate 220 million francs for the modernization of its shelter network. This applies to both local residents and foreigners, as well as refugees. The authorities explain that this decision is not related to the armed conflict but aims to ensure the safety of the population.
According to the law adopted in 1963, every resident of Switzerland has the right to a place in a bomb and radiation-proof bunker.
Now, the country plans to modernize old bomb shelters and civil defense bunkers over the next 15 years. This decision was made in light of the worsening security situation in the world. Building owners whose shelters are found to have defects will be punished.
The consultation and public discussion process will continue until February 2025. In addition, the government plans to invest a significant amount in updating protective structures and command and control points of the civil defense system.
