In the first set, Yastremska made a break in the sixth game and led 4:2. However, she couldn't maintain the lead: in the ninth game, the Ukrainian failed to convert a set point and allowed her opponent to come back. The set went to a tiebreak, where Diana completely dominated Gauff, allowing her to score only three points - 7:6(3).

In the second set, the Ukrainian immediately took a break in the opening game, and then confidently extended the score to 5:1. The match ended with another game won by the Ukrainian on the American’s serve - 6:1.

Recall that Elina Svitolina also successfully started at Wimbledon 2025, defeating Hungarian Anna Bondar in the first round in two sets. In the first set, Svitolina broke in the fourth game and had a chance to finish the set already in the eighth, but her opponent saved three set points. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian served for the set in the next game - 6:3. In the second set, Svitolina completely controlled the game, giving away only one game to her opponent - 6:1.
