A priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate was sentenced to four years in prison in the Khmelnytskyi region
In the Khmelnytskyi region, the court found a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate guilty of justifying Russian aggression against Ukraine and inciting religious hatred. This was reported by 'Glavkom', citing the National Police of Ukraine.
The clergyman was sentenced to four years in prison.
According to law enforcement officers, the priest was detained in April of last year for unlawful activities. He posted messages on one of the banned social networks that contributed to the incitement of religious hostility and insulted citizens based on their religious beliefs.
The suspect also justified Russian armed aggression against Ukraine, spreading photos and videos from hostile internet resources. Special examinations conducted during the investigation confirmed the fact of information-subversive activities against Ukraine.
'Glavkom' reported that the day before, on March 18, in Cherkasy, the court released Metropolitan Feodosiy (Denys Snihiryo) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate from house arrest, who is accused of inciting interreligious enmity and denying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
It was previously reported that a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate from the Zhytomyr region justified the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, made derogatory remarks about national Ukrainian heroes, and instructed his parishioners to remain silent in response to the words 'Glory to Ukraine.'
