Rutte assessed the prospects of Ukraine's NATO membership under Trump.

Assessment of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on the prospects of Ukraine's membership in NATO
During an interview for NV, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed his opinion on the possibility of Ukraine joining the Alliance. He stated that the decision made at the Washington summit confirms that Ukraine is irreversibly on the path to NATO. Rutte also responded to U.S. President Donald Trump's statement, which asserted that Ukraine would have no chance of becoming a member of the Alliance. He noted that NATO membership does not imply the conclusion of peace agreements or a ceasefire. Furthermore, Rutte emphasized that the wording of the Washington summit fully aligns with his views. He also mentioned that the Alliance would continue to cooperate with Ukraine, support it in developing its own forces, and assist in achieving a peace agreement or a ceasefire. Rutte urged to hope for the achievement of these goals.
