Machine gunner of the first rifle platoon of the first rifle company of military unit A4047, Vasily Mykolayovych Luk'yanuk, call sign Cuba, fell on March 3, 2025, near Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region. This was reported by Glavkom, citing the Verkhovynska village council.

Vasily Luk'yanuk was born on March 19, 1972, in the village of Biloberizka, Verkhovyna district, Ivano-Frankivsk region, and was the only son in the family. He studied at Biloberizka secondary school. Classmates remember him as a good friend, a loyal companion, and a pleasant interlocutor. After completing the eighth grade in 1987, he went to study at Kutske Vocational School No. 6.

Immediately after the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine in March 2022, he volunteered for the territorial defense.

Vasily Luk'yanuk died on March 3, 2025, near the locality of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region as a result of mortar fire from the enemy.

“He lived a short but worthy life and gave it for us, for peace, for his native state, and for a peaceful future. Unfortunately, the war takes from us the flower of the nation – young, brave, devoted patriots of Ukraine. But the Heroes of Ukrainian land do not die, and the bright memory of them will live forever in the wide wheat fields, blue sky, and swift waters of our rivers,” it says in a message from the Verkhovynska village council.
