Education in a New Way: Ukrainian High School Students Have an Important Choice.

Educational Reform: High School Students Will Be Able to Choose Subjects
The education system in Ukraine is preparing for significant changes in the organization of high school education. Starting from September 1, 2027, high school students will have the opportunity to independently shape their educational trajectory by choosing their study profiles and subjects according to their own interests and professional plans for the future.
This information was provided by the Ministry of Education.
New System of Choosing Learning Directions
According to the new system, graduates of 9th grade will have the opportunity to choose between two paths for continuing education. The first option implies admission to an academic lyceum with in-depth study of the chosen profile and preparation for further study at the university.
The second path is admission to a vocational college, where, alongside obtaining a general secondary education, students will master a specific specialty that will allow them to start their professional career more quickly.
'To ensure a wide choice of subjects, it is necessary for a sufficient number of students to study in the institution at the parallel. This will create opportunities for forming diverse learning groups and a supportive environment for communication and mutual support among students,' - explains the Ministry of Education.
Prospects of the Education Reform
The reform stipulates that lyceum classes (10-12) will function as separate educational institutions. This approach, according to educational experts, better meets the psychological and educational needs of high school students.
At the same Time, educators emphasize that schools with grades 1-9, 5-9 or 1-4 will continue to operate in a regular mode. The reform pertains exclusively to the organization of senior high school and aims to improve the quality of education and its compliance with modern requirements.
We should also remind you that the use of the Ukrainian language in educational institutions may be restricted.
