According to The Telegraph, the British government was aware that the funds received by Roman Abramovich from the sale of the Chelsea football club may never reach Ukraine. Journalists believe that the government took no steps to pressure the oligarch to resolve this issue.
The Chelsea owner promised to donate a portion of the funds to charity for the victims of the war, but the British side did not fulfill these conditions. As a result, due to Russian sanctions, the funds from the sale of Chelsea remain inaccessible to Ukraine. It should be noted that during the sanctions, Roman Abramovich has mostly been in Turkey, choosing it as his vacation spot.
Journalists note that the British government has not intensified its efforts regarding the arrival of funds from the sale of Chelsea for charitable needs and support for Ukraine. This makes the situation more difficult for a country in need of help amid growing geopolitical tensions.
