Emin Sefershaev became the world wrestling champion
On October 29, Emin Sefershaev won a medal at the World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship. He defeated Armenian Manvel Khachatryan and received a bronze medal.
Sefershaev was born in Simferopol in 1998 and represents Russia in international competitions after the annexation of Crimea. Before that, he represented Ukraine.
The athlete also supports Russian aggression against Ukraine. He participated in a propaganda event dedicated to Russian war criminal Kutuzov. After winning the tournament, Sefershaev was photographed with a picture of Kutuzov and displayed the medal with his image in the photo.
The athlete also communicates with Russian propaganda media and indicates his location in Russia, Crimea, in his Instagram photos.
Ukraine urges to maintain sanctions against Russia
The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and the Sports Committee of Ukraine addressed the President of the International World Games Association, José Perurena López, demanding to continue the ban on the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in the XII World Games in 2025. It is emphasized that aggression from Russia continues, and Russian occupiers commit atrocities against the Ukrainian people. Ukraine urges to maintain sanctions until the aggression stops and peace is restored.
Ukraine recalled the ban on the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in the 2022 World Games competitions. They now request to extend restrictions for future competitions in 2025.
