The Philippines and China Again Dispute Borders in the South China Sea.

The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs protested China's establishment of baseline lines around the disputed Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea on Wednesday.
According to RBC-Ukraine, the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs objected to the baseline lines that China has drawn around the disputed Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea.
'These lines violate the sovereignty of the Philippines and contradict international law,' stated the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs.
China has defined a 'baseline of territorial waters' around Scarborough Shoal, which has caused a protest from the Philippines. This shoal has a dispute between the countries regarding sovereignty and fishing rights.
The Chinese Ambassador emphasized that the baseline was a 'necessary response' to the new marine legislation of the Philippines and a 'routine measure' to strengthen maritime governance.
The Philippines has enacted two laws to strengthen maritime claims and enhance the territorial integrity of the country. In response, China summoned the Philippine ambassador for 'solemn statements'.
The Chinese Ambassador urged the Philippines to immediately cease any unilateral actions and maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea.
China claims most of the South China Sea, which is a vital shipping route with a significant volume of maritime trade. Many countries, including the Philippines, claim this territory.
Tension in the South China Sea
This year, tensions between China and the Philippines have escalated due to the status of Scarborough Shoal.
