No benefits and no access to healthcare: the French government has taken steps to reduce the number of refugees.

The new French government intends to reduce the number of migrants and significantly cut their benefits. This was reported by Bild.
The main goal is to deter migrants who see France as 'too attractive an option compared to other countries' by restricting free access to the healthcare system. According to Interior Minister Bruno Retallo, all possible means will be used to reduce immigration. The Minister also considers it impossible to successfully cope with the arrival of 470 thousand migrants to adequately accommodate, integrate, and educate them.
Prime Minister Michel Barnier supports Retallo's idea, earlier stating that a multicultural society is conflict-prone and migrants do not come with the intention of becoming French.
According to Politico, France has become the worst place for Ukrainian refugees to live. Less than one person per 1000 citizens is accepted. Language plays an important role in this process, as Ukrainian refugees are attracted to Slavic-speaking countries. Analysts also emphasize that most Ukrainian refugees choose France because of its geographical proximity to Ukraine, financial support, and the presence of communities in France that provide assistance to refugees.
