Japan prepares to test weapon against hypersonic targets.

Japan tests new weapon
The Japanese Ministry of Defense is preparing to conduct tests of an electromagnetic railgun that can shoot down hypersonic combat blocks. This information was reported by Yomiuri.
Developers explained that this new weapon uses electric energy, not explosives, to accelerate the projectile to high speeds. Such a gun has high accuracy and range and can effectively target various aerial objects, including hypersonic ones.
It is planned that ships equipped with multi-purpose Aegis tracking and targeting systems will be fitted with these electromagnetic railguns. It is also known that Japan is collaborating with the United States in the field of defense technologies and armaments, considering opportunities for joint development of systems to combat hypersonic weapons.
It should be noted that Japan is considering the possibility of deploying long-range missiles on Kyushu Island due to threats from China and North Korea, as well as uncertainty in relations with the United States concerning security pacts.
It has also become known that Japan has signed an agreement with the iQPS institute to provide the Ukrainian military intelligence with satellite geospatial data, including radar images, using SAR technology. The launch of new satellites is planned by the end of 2026.
