Americans Concerned About Measles Outbreak
According to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll, only 31% of Americans agreed with the statement that the Trump administration is responsibly handling the measles outbreak. At the same Time, most consider measles vaccines to be safe.
In the last 25 years, the US has seen the largest measles outbreak, with the number of cases exceeding 1,000 per week. Vaccination against measles is important, as the vaccine prevents 97% of cases after two doses.
Experts are concerned that comments from prominent minister Robert F. Kennedy Jr. may increase doubts about vaccination. Nevertheless, about 86% of Americans believe the vaccine is safe for children.
Decreased vaccination rates could lead to further spread of measles. The outbreak in Texas is spreading to other states where new cases of the disease, including fatalities, are also being reported. Experts urge all parents to vaccinate their children to protect them from measles.
The majority of poll respondents are concerned about the measles outbreaks and believe that the administration's actions should focus on containing the spread of the disease. This raises serious discussions about the future of vaccination and disease control.
