“Why go there?”. Tourists named the least popular capital in Europe.

Luxembourg - a city that doesn't interest tourists
Luxembourg has become one of the least popular cities for travel in Europe. Over the past year, the city was visited by less than a million tourists. This was reported by RTL Today.
One Euro-tourist traveling around Europe shared in his blog on Tripadvisor about the dismissive attitude towards Luxembourg. Having experienced other popular cities such as London, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, he felt undervalued by other tourists when he talked about his itinerary, which included Luxembourg. Many people asked him one question: “Why go there?”
It becomes obvious that Luxembourg is not considered an interesting city for travel, even for a one-day visit. This theory is confirmed by the statistics: 22.4 million tourists visit Berlin annually, Paris - about 50 million, while Luxembourg attracts less than a million.
Interestingly, the tourist disinterest in Luxembourg is noticeable even in comparison with other cities. For example, Sarajevo attracts 3 million tourists annually, and Belgrade managed to attract 1.38 million visitors in 2023.
It is not entirely clear why there is such low interest in Luxembourg. The population density here is significantly lower than in big cities. For example, in the capital of France, Paris, there are an average of 20,025 residents per square kilometer, while in Luxembourg there are only 1,700 people.
Most of Luxembourg's territory is occupied by parks, forests, and agricultural lands. The capital has many historical landmarks, such as districts listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Petrus casemates, the National Museum, castles, town halls, bridges, and a rift that divides the city center into two parts. Free public transport is also an advantage of Luxembourg.
It is worth noting that Luxembourg is among the countries with the highest salaries. In this respect, it ranks second only to Switzerland with an average salary of $6633.
